MORE ENROLLING INFORMATION

After an applicant has received an offer of a place at Wentworth Institute, has been received, the applicant completes, signs and dates the acceptance of the offer, pays the minimum required payment, adds any documentation related to conditions attached to the offer or documentation required to apply for Advanced standing/academic credit/recognition of prior learning (RPL) and forwards these to WIN ([email protected]). The Assistant Registrar then processes the acceptance and forwards the Confirmation of Enrolment to the applicant or the applicant’s agent.

If you have decided to cancel your studies and you have been offered FEE-HELP, you must withdraw your enrolment in each unit of study before the census date or you will incur debt.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENT

APPLICANTS WITH HIGHER EDUCATION STUDY

Students who have successfully undertaken higher education at a recognized institution or university, will be accepted for admission into Wentworth Institute of Higher Education. Where students have completed a subject at a similar level at an Australian institution, credit transfer will be granted. Applicants may also apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL). Submit an application for RPL that meets the requirements of the 'Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy’.

APPLICANTS WITH VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) STUDY

Applicants who have undertaken any VET study within the last five years since leaving school may be eligible for admission to a WIN course with credit and RPL. Submit an to meets the requirements of the Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.

Students who complete vocational programs at Wentworth Institute (WIN) at a credit level or higher may be eligible for exemptions in their higher education study at Wentworth Institute.

WIN will also review students applying for admission from other institutions and may offer exemptions based on the pattern of study and the level of achievement.

NB This may require a student to undertake tasks to enable their learning outcomes to be assessed.

APPLICANTS WITH RECENT SECONDARY EDUCATION (WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS)

Recent school leavers may be admitted into the undergraduate degree programs on the basis of academic merit and an assessed against the program admission requirements
Admission entry may be offered to applicants with work experience, volunteering, internships or workplace training where that learning can be documented by the Registrar as being equivalent to applicants with formal qualifications who are offered entry into WIN’s programs.

APPLICANTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED YEAR 12 IN AUSTRALIA

Applicants who have completed Year 12 and received an NSW HSC or interstate leaving certificate or International Baccalaureate result, will be considered for admission on the basis of academic merit and assessment against the program admission requirements.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
WIN is committed to providing higher education pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who do not have an HSC or other qualification may apply to study at WIN through an alternative entry program.

Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications
Australian citizens or permanent residents with overseas qualifications are assessed after they have provided certified documents for academic achievements (and transcript if relevant).

Others
Having attained the age of 18 to 21 years and having not completed a Higher School Certificate or its equivalent must provide a portfolio of work and demonstrate that they have successfully met one of the following educational entry requirements through the completion of:

  • A Special Tertiary Admissions Test administered by UAC, OR
  • Having reached a standard of education deemed suitable by the Dean as to be the equivalent of completion of Year 12 so as to give the applicant reasonable prospects for completing the course of study.

Having obtained the age of 21 (Mature Age Entry), having not previously enrolled in a degree at a higher education provider and can provide evidence that they have reasonable prospects for academic success at WIN in the undergraduate course/s they are applying.

NB If the applicant is an international student, they must be at least 18 years of age when they start the course.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • All international applicants are expected to be proficient in English.
  • Undergraduate applicants should have an IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.0, with no band lower than 5.5 (or equivalent).
  • Postgraduate applicants should have an IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.5, with no band lower than 6.0 (or equivalent).
  • You must provide evidence of your English language proficiency with your application.
  • You are strongly advised to complete this entry requirement before travelling to Australia by studying for and sitting an IELTS test in your home country.
  • NB International students who don’t meet our English proficiency requirements can undertake an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) program at WIN prior to studying our degree course.

  • NOTE: You do not have to provide proof of proficiency in English if you were born in: American Samoa, Australia, Canada, Fiji, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tanzania, United Kingdom (Including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia or Zimbabwe AND have at least one qualification from one of the countries listed AND the language in which you undertook the qualification was English OR if you were not born in one of the above countries BUT you have completed senior secondary study or at least one year of full-time university study in one of these countries AND the language in which you undertook this qualification was English.

ENROLMENT

All students are welcomed to join ‘0’ week for orientation. A welcome pack will be provided to all new students.
